Emergency Relief

Sécours d'urgence
The emergency relief programme consists of giving relief in response to disasters and crises. In 2005 and 2006, ACCEDES distributed over 560 tonnes of cereal at subsidised prices or free of charge. Due to the severity of the 2005 food crisis, 430 tonnes of cereal were distributed, mainly to the population in the north of the country. This year, ACCEDES is supporting over 1,000 families that were affected by floods in 2007.

The emergency relief programme is followed by a rehabilitation programme which minimises the long-term effects of these disasters by enabling the population to resume income-generating activities such as keeping livestock or creating market gardens.
